This is usually caused by an infection. Usually treatment and/or antibiotics will be required. You must contact the practice as soon as possible.

If you have a constant pain, this indicates there is something wrong that requires attention. Painkillers are usually necessary a medication that you usually take for headaches will often relieve the symptoms of tooth ache. Contact the practice to arrange an emergency appointment as soon as possible.

The tooth needs to be re-implanted as soon as possible. If you can, place the tooth back into the socket. If this is not possible, DO NOT place the tooth in water. DO place it in some cold milk or on one side of your mouth between you teeth and cheeks until you can be seen either by us or a local hospital emergency dental department. Try not to handle the tooth root too much to protect the fibres around the root surface.

The tooth can remain sensitive for 2 to 3 days after a filling or procedure has been completed. If it persists beyond that, please contact the practice for advice.

Please do not panic as these can usually be restored. If the tooth is painful, avoid hot and cold foods. If there is pain try to avoid eating or biting on that side. Painkillers can often help. An early appointment is usually necessary to avoid further damage to the tooth and possibly the nerve inside. We can easily provide a temporary restoration and ensure it is pain free.

Please keep the crown safe, as we may be able to re-cement it for you. If the underlying tooth is painful avoid eating near it and drink tepid drinks only. It is essential that the crown is re-cemented as soon as possible as failure to do so can lead to further damage and the necessity for root canal treatment or tooth extraction.

Please call the practice to discuss the possibility of a repair or a replacement denture. In some cases a repair simply may not be possible, in which case we would discuss the options of a new replacement denture.

Call Broadway Dental Surgery as soon as possible if you break or loosen any of your appliances. Even if you have a regular appointment scheduled, call us immediately to notify us if you need an appliance repaired, and the reception team will advise you if you need to be seen prior to your routine appointment. Please DO NOT attempt to adjust or alter the brace as this is likely to damage it.
